Regularization in practice

Thank you for your interest in participating in our survey.

We are an international team of researchers working at the German Centre for Integration & Migration ResearchWe kindly ask you to share your experience and assessment of the Opportunity Residence Permit ("Chancen-Aufenthaltsrecht" §104c AufenthG). Only answer this survey if you have applied at any moment to the Opportunity Residence Permit. You may also share the survey with others who may be interested to participate.

We are interested in understanding your motivation for applying to the Chancen-Aufenthaltsrecht, your thoughts on the application process, and the impact changes to your residency status may have had on your general well-being. We will also inquire about your experience with German insitutions and your future aspirations and plans after the 18 months of your §104c status have expired.

Your participation is entirely voluntary and you can stop the survey at any point. We expect the survey to take a maximum of 10 minutes. If a question makes you feel uncomfortable you will be able to skip it.

Your answers will only be analysed in anonymised form. Also, please know that there are no right or wrong answers, we value your time and would like to learn about your personal experiences.

There are 38 questions in this survey.

General information
The legal provisions on which the processing is based are in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).

Personal data means any information relating to a person who has either already been identified or becomes identifiable through this information. Identifiability can be achieved either by merging the available information or by incorporating additional measures, such as assignment to a name identifier, an identification number, location data or an online identifier or searching generally accessible information pools, such as databases, libraries or the Internet.

Purpose of processing and explanation of the procedure
The personal data collected as part of an online survey are processed for the purpose of conducting the research project (see above). The aim of the project is to investigate the effectiveness of the new Opportunity Residence Act in reaching the target group. For this reason, participants are surveyed online on various topics. Personal data that requires particular protection is also collected or processed, including residence status (so-called special categories of personal data according to Art. 9 GDPR). Technical analysis data is only collected if it is technically necessary for conducting the survey. In principle, contact details (email address) are stored separately from the other survey data. However, since this is a survey that may take place periodically and thus also serves to research developments, personal data from different survey intervals are linked together. Participation is voluntary and there is no obligation to answer all questions. The publication of study results or the transmission of study results to other research institutions or those working in science, e.g. the availability in the research data center of DeZIM e.V. (DeZIM.fdz), takes place in an anonymized form, i.e. it is impossible to trace the identity of the people surveyed.

Legal basis of processing
The personal data are processed based on the consent given by the data subjects pursuant to point (a) of Art. 6 (1) GDPR.

Period of storage
The personal data will be deleted after completion of the research project and, insofar as they are no longer necessary for the implementation of the research project, will be anonymised at the earliest possible point in time.

Rights of data subjects
In addition to the right to object, data subjects have the following rights in relation to the Controller concerning the processing of their personal data:

• Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
• Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
• Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
• Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
• Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)

In addition, data subjects have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent supervisory authority of DeZIM e.V. is the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

Declaration of consent
I hereby agree to the processing of my personal data for the above-mentioned purpose.
I may withdraw my consent at any time; this does not affect the lawfulness of processing of my personal data based on consent before its withdrawal.
